About Hawker Electrical
Hawker Electrical was originally founded by Sean Hawker in 1994 as CMS (Classic Motorcycle Services). This company was involved in all aspects of classic motorcycle restoration but it soon became clear that the most popular part of the business was the electrical side.
After purchasing some critical pieces of equipment, talking to lots of experienced people and having a keen interest in the electrical side allied to an electrical background, the name was changed once again. The well known CMES (Classic Motorcycle Electrical Services) was formed and all work other than electrical repairs was dropped.
During the development of CMES it became clear that the most popular and personally rewarding areas of the business were magneto and dynamo reconditioning services. With an excellent working knowledge of the units, Sean was able to dramatically improve the standard units' performance and long term reliability.
The electronic regulator was originally developed to satisfy Sean's own requirement for a reliable accurate replacement for the old Lucas CVC box. Through covering high mileage each year, this proved to be the only Achilles heel. After almost two years of development, testing and refinements, it was launched in 1997. It has proved a firm favourite with many people who enjoy using their classic bikes to their best potential.
The only recurring problem that seemed to arrive with CMES was the customers ability to remember all the letters in the right order. So after 10 years the company name was finally changed to Hawker Electrical - simple really as it's Sean's surname and it's easy to remember!
Hawker Electrical are very well known for our willingness to explain systems to people and help to provide solutions to our customers' electrical problems.
